This is a beautiful film that I have watched more than twice. It felt like knowing balgandharva for real. The experience of watching the movie was one of a kind.

Amazing blog! Though I have not watched this film,I have heard a lot about the fever of Marathi sangeet natak that prevailed in that era. Have heard stories from my parents, they have also been ardent lovers of Marathi natak and more so of sangeet natak.

My grandfather, in his youth would fill in pillows in his bed and run away in the night along with his brother only to watch Marathi sangeet natak. They would return in the wee hours as it would take that long for the play to wind up with the numerous 'once mores' received for every natyapad (classical songs in the play). My grandfather could sing Indian classical ragas flawlessly and I think I owe it to him for my interest and passion in it.

There has been a movement to revive the olden Marathi sangeet natak and few of them did see the stage once again. But the icing on the cake has been the iconic film 'Katyaar Kaljaat Ghusli' launched in 2015 which broke all records and drove the masses to the theatres and also attracted the young generation towards Indian classical music. The journey still continues and hasn't changed since then..
